Addiction Control

Addiction is common, but is not exclusive to drugs or alcohol. It is possible to control the unwanted behavior and develop new coping techniques. Problems may include:

  • Misuse of drugs

  • Alcohol abuse

  • Smoking

  • Eating disorders (Anorexia & Bulimia)

  • Excessive gambling

  • Overspending

  • Sex addiction

Counselling focuses both on controlling the unwanted behaviour and the underlying causes of the addiction . Clients can learn to identify and deal with feelings which have been suppressed by their addiction, and develop more appropriate and realistic methods of coping. The undesired behaviour is replaced with different coping strategies, which the client begins to identify during the counselling. Also changes in life patterns and thinking processes help to reduce the unwanted symptoms. This assists the client in moving forward towards a better and more rewarding way of life.

A visualisation soundtrack, entitled 'Stop and Go', has been recorded by Ros Powell and is available to download. It can help tackle your addiction and help you to visualize your life free from the behaviours which have been causing problems in your life. It may also be used to help those attempting to stop smoking and may be of help with obsessive compulsive disorders, together with appropriate professional input. Click here for more information.

WARNING. If your intake of drugs or alcohol is still high, you must seek medical advice before using the CD as it could be dangerous to your health to stop suddenly.
