Childhood Trauma

An unhappy or traumatic childhood often causes problems in later life. This may include the inability to form long standing relationships, alcohol or drug abuse, a lack of trust in others , a lack of self-confidence and low self-esteem.

Although many adults cope with the affects of problems in early life, some need to be able to work through the issues which are causing long standing emotional problems, in a place where they feel safe and able to express their feelings. This process is necessary in order to help those affected to move forward with their lives in a healthy and functional way, and may take many months.
